Welcome!

Hello friends!

Whether you intentionally found yourself on this blog or have no idea how you got here, welcome to ABookishBelle! My name is Isabella and this is my creative space! I have very little experience with blogging (aside from being an avid tumblr/pinterest user) but I’m excited for what this journey may bring! I thought I should start by telling you a little bit about myself and why I started this blog in the first place, so here it goes!

I am currently a senior in college (uni) living in Washington, D.C. and yes, I do live within walking distance to the White House! I am originally from New Jersey (South Jersey for all you Jersey people out there who know there is a distinct difference between the north and south of NJ!) and still travel home when i have breaks from school/work. When I’m not working or in class, I can usually be found with my nose in a book or stalking dogs on Instagram. I’m absolutely obsessed with Star Wars and I own a Chewbacca onesie and Darth Maul lightsaber that is basically my prized possession.

I started reading when I was in 5th or 6th grade and I never really stopped! I have always loved the feeling of traveling to different worlds and escaping my own through a good book. I believe words have a magnificent power and that some stories truly change who you are as a person. One of my favorite quotes by George R.R. Martin has always stuck with me and captures this sentiment, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only once.”

Reading has always been an outlet for me. I read when I am stressed, anxious, happy, sad, you name it. As much as I love reading, I love talking about books even more! As most readers know, it’s sometimes hard to find someone who shares the same love obsession as you. Because of that, us bibliophiles often turn to the internet and blogging (I’m looking at you tumblr!). There’s nothing better than finishing a book/series and going on tumblr to obsessively search all the tags associated with said book. Alternatively, there’s nothing worse than going on tumblr and accidentally spoiling a book for yourself because you just couldn’t wait to find all all your otp tags *sigh*. If you relate to anything I just said, or you’re curious just how bookish people could be so damn crazy, then I can guarantee you this blog is for you!

I hope you find something you can relate to on this blog, whether it be fangirling over the latest Fantasy book or obsessing over the new Star Wars movie. Thank you so much for reading and I would love to hear your thoughts on anything and everything!
